#Sustainability and #Unemployment

Sustainability is an all-encompassing term that describes the efficient management of finite resources.

It involves independence in a single, interconnected system, while responding to interdependence as a unit within a system.

The South African National Plannimg Commission drew up a National Development Plan (NDP) for South Africa. The goal is to have a set of macro-objectives reached by the year 2030. Economic, environmental, political and social themes are compacted into 484 pages of information of the NDP.

The challenge now is, engaging South African citizens. I learned about the NDP while volunteering in a program designed by the Western Cape government. The programs beneficiaries are underperforming schools and unemployed youth.

Left with questions and ideas, I completed the program with a sense of the development landscape in South Africa.
